Used to post one every Wednesday...boy, those were the days (like a few months ago)
Just sliding in for a few to do some perusin' and groovin'....plus doesn't look like I'll be back in the Calliope game till like 31..if I'm lucky...
This song actually reminds me of the early 90s...when I worked in local tv news...
Many times...esp. during the 11pm newscast....we'd sell ad time to one of those compilation albums and would be treated to 2 minutes of snippets while the ad ran. Hearing it every night for a few months...everybody had the snippets memorized. It wouldn't surprise anybody that came into the studio or control room to find everybody singing at the top of their lungs (including the anchors)...Good times!
This track from '74 was a fav of our sportscaster...heh.
ahhh....the planets have aligned...I'm online at home and remembered to post the song I've been forgetting for the past week or so...
Probably hadn't heard this song since I was but a wee lad in the late 70s...till I went on a KTEL/Ronco compilation album hunt and it was on one of my scores....
Originally released in '74 if wikipedia is to believed...and for our purposes...it shall.
I up'd this Tuesday evening and then totally spaced...d'oh!
So I slept way later than normal yesterday...and today I guess my body thinks its time to go back to work. Boy do I have a surprise for my body...errr...ummm....
This song has been my life for as long as I can remember. I inherited all my mom's albums and 45s...this one's still in the stack. I've always has a soft spot for Tony and the girls. Maybe its the vague memories of their variety show (or maybe they were just specials?)....or...maybe its just the Tie A Yellow Ribbon effect...for some reason that song seemed to hit it big with us kids.
Enough babbling...*knock*knock*knock*
Not only was I bored enough to drag out my home laptop for the QotD..but I went ahead and saved a few tunes to a jump drive to get me through the rest of the day...
Love me some Hall & Oates...favorite song is probably "Sara Smile"...but I don't think I think I have it (yet)...so went with She's Gone b/c it had a '73 date...(although according to the wiki it was rereleased in '76)I also dug most everything they did in the early 80s...
*sigh* Now for some reason...they've made me think of Solid Gold. Somebody/some network/some web site needs to put those reruns back on the air!
Anyway...enjoy.
My 70s Music trifecta comes to a close with a 1979 Clash cover of Vince Taylor's 1958 hit....
From Punk to Punk Ass?
Can't help it...I like'um. ...Guess I can chalk it up to the "mother" influence. She ruled the stereo/8 track.
This is probably my favorite from Electric Light Orchestra...
I've up'd a few 70s tracks cause I wasn't sure what I wanted to share....which means I'll probably eventually share them all...
First up...from '77....Oh Bondage! Up Yours! From what I understand this song was released as a single and wasn't included on the following album till its re-release in '05-ish....
D'oh...my memory is shot! Up'd this last night....and brought to you by a random remembering...
Petey's first single after leaving Genesis...
