First up is The Mighty Lemon Drops...Not my favorite track (this is) but a close 2nd. I've recently heard some live stuff from them and wish I'd had the chance to see them!
and saving the best (esp. the Sinead) for last...I'll round ya out with some (more) 80s goodness...

Shouldn't this be -- "Science is Au-n" Heh. The album tiltle is even scientifical....Gravity Won't Get You High...woot!
And a post by me isn't complete without a bit of the 80s. Dude! Thomas Dolby was on it in '82...Wireless! You da Man!
...A Saturday night...a Stouffer's French Bread Pizza.... a bad haircut and this?
Answer:
Unfortunately.....me - early.mid 80s.
What's your favorite game to play?
Remembering to change Allow comments from "nobody" to "anybody" !@#$%^$#@!%!!!
I've mentioned doing this a few times and once again the Cosmos are aligned! I had thought about it after up'in the Christmas song video below and as I was converting that file....Ele called and wanted me to go with Will to Costco to use my membership for a few last minute gifts. They were on they're way back from lunch at Humble Pie and somehow the music they played in the restaurant was mentioned (just this afternoon and yet...I don't remember *sigh*). She said the waiters were singing....customers, too...including Will. It reminded her of the KTEL albums. Boom! Knew it had to happen. (and for those too young to remember...K-TEL albums are to us what NOW Music CDs are to you) ;)
So here's the plan: Every blue moon...or when I'm bored...or when I can't stand it anymore (cause I'm all about my childhood)...I'll post one of the albums with whatever songs I can dig up (or feel like digging up)...
I know I have more...but they must be in the boxes in the closet...and I'm not braving those tonight. So in the meantime there's ----> the first 6...ok...so one's a Ronco, K-TEL's little bitch...but I can't leave out an album titled "Far Out"!?!
Now to our first...the creme de la creme....
I remember it like it was 1980.
Christmas 1980.
Infreakin'Fact....27 years tomorrow (being from a broken home *cue sniffles* and having to visit the Paternal One on Christmas Day, we opened/open gives on Christmas Eve), my sister would receive this album...along with ABBA's Greatest Hits. I can still see it sitting under the Christmas Tree (that might have been the year we opened all the ends of our gifts to figure out which ones we wanted to open first) on my sister's 'side' of the stash. I'm lucky to have inherited it and the rest of her 45s...along with all my Mom's..plus her albums.
I played it earlier and surprised it still holds up so well considering all the wear and tear it got those first few months. I'd do the younger brother whine to 'make' my mom make my sister share...or I'd sneak it out of her room when she wasn't home.
You can click each picture to see super ginormous pictures of the front and back cover above (once on the picture's page...gve'er another click to go HUGE)...But if you're not up to it, here's the track listing....along with 4 tunes.(all coincidentally from Side Two) With this post already being at a record breaking length I made all the tunes "medium size (c'mon VOX...fix it so we can play medium sized tracks on the same page!)...you'll need to click their pictures to head over to the song's page.

"COMING SOON" they teased me....They're still teasing. Get on it, K-TEL!
TILL NEXT TIME...
I've been listening to this cassette/CD/mp3s on/off since '89-'90 and never knew this was a cover (mainly purchased for this track and here's another good'un)...
Granted I wouldn't/don't have a lot of exposure to Andy Williams but then as soon as I heard the original I was like "ooooh, yeah".
...And if you think of horses cloppity clopping or Bob Barker setting aside the skinny mic and busting out the shells for a mad track-ending solo...You sir/sir-ette are not alone.
...If that doesn't ring a shell....maybe the original will...Tis a showcase showdown of epic proportions!
UPDATE -
As I was uploading other Xmas songs this morning, I came across another Xmas rap. Instead of giving it its on post (cause I hate the thought of a lonely Xmas post...no really....I don't even kill bugs from Thanksgiving to the New Year) I'm updating this one. You'll find some Kurtis Blow...B-low the Run DMC track.
This song doesn't remind me of Xmas...it reminds me of Less Than Zero....
But nonetheless...enjoy...
Finally used up the iTunes credit I've had sitting on my account forever on the new Pixies tribute album, Dig For Fire with bands like The Rosebud, Mogwai, They Might Be Giants...and Ok Go. I haven't listened to the whole thing yet but will eventually share something to give ya a taste. In the meantime...here's a live cover from one of those bands.
Ok Go taking on Rick "Noah Drake" Springfields' best known single...
