Wrapping up the random day...
Forgot I had even taken this. It was in my "To Flickr" folder and saw it today when I was adding the pics from earlier today...
I must have been experimenting with the cam's settings cause its got a bit of wonky noise going on...but I still like this shot of some of downtown from the Boylan Street bridge...
Boy...nothing lets you know you're an amateur photog like going into an inflatable piece of art with all kinds of lights going on inside...translation - most of the pics sucked of Levity III...but it was still a cool experience and worth the $5.
A pretty decent crowd in both 'areas'...here's a section of the group waiting for the performance art...
First up was a visit to Levity III...which I'm not going to bother trying to describe. I'll let the experts do it...
From the Art on the Edge site:
A creation of England's Architects of Air, under the direction of Alan Parkinson, Levity III is a stimulating 10,000 square foot kaleidoscope of liquid light and color. Inspired by Gothic cathedrals and Islamic architecture, the luminarium is made up of labyrinthine tunnels and spacious domes which invite visitors to lose themselves in a complete sensory immersion. Installations by Architects of Air have received rave reviews throughout the world and have collectively drawn millions of awe-inspired visitors to experience these truly unique pieces of art.

Then it was time for a performance from Strange Fruit. It rocked!
Check out the Strange Fruit web site for more info...Definitely check them out if they are in your area. Heck, it was Free!Hailing from Melbourne, Australia, Strange Fruit will captivate the audience as four cast members bend and sway, presenting Swoon! while perched atop flexible poles four meters in the air. Their work is a fusion of theatre, dance and circus. Originally based on the image of a field of wheat swaying in the breeze, the poles' extreme strength and flexibility allow performers to bow to impossible angles, swaying back and forth in a hypnotising dance as the audience looks up in wonder.
First up are the pics...and then a bit of shaky video to give you a better idea...Would have tried for more video and an exterior shot of Levity III...but me batteries died. :(
Enjoy!
As you can tell...its mostly wannabes and has-beens...but they usually have at least one or two worthy of seeing...Last year it was The Connells for me...and Arrested Development but couldn't make that one....
This year? Uh...big Everclear fan! And wouldn't mind seeing Soul Asylum...(although I have a nagging feeling that I may have already....anyone care to confirm?) Gonna have to catch the trolley down by Mordecai House (2 blocks or so my hizzous)....
