Maybe...Possibly...Could Be...
But Songbird has a long ways to go before I full on replace iTunes...but its definitely now my 'go to' for mp3s and its now how I'll keep up on my music blogs. I tried it a long time ago and wasn't impressed...or either didn't give it a shot cause I love it. Its build on Mozilla and is very similar to Firefox in that it has tabs, extensions, add ons, themes etc...so if you use FF..its pretty easy (and even if you don't). You can bookmark sites and it'll pull the songs from the page and give the option for downloading (so you can see if you like the band/artist and then purchase) There's a video for one of the older versions here...but it gives a good overview
Now its still in development phase so can be a bit wonky and not all extension/add ons/themes are gonna work all the time...but the basics are there (most of the time...heh) I want to say somebody has mentioned this recently (Grumblebunny? arbed?)...and wished I had listened back then.
Oh and yeah...and build in Skreemr search build in....SOLD!
And with all this chatting of music...I've got to thrown in my newest (new to me) obsession:
....How the hell am I ever going to organize my music collection if I don't stop finding new stuff?!?!
I think KEXP does a decent job of the quickie background/who they are and there's a freebie mp3 too! (you may have to scroll the following "kwout" box to see the link to the page but the mp3 link below should work)
I'm gonna try this new thingie...kinda like clipmarks called kwout....but if this post disappear...you know it didn't kwite meet my high standards...heh.
UPDATE: Well...kwout did ok, I guess...it has a limit to the size of the screen cap...BUT...VOX in all of its "automatic" sizing glory is cutting off the actual links. You'll need to hover over each story and then scroll to see the kwout links.
First up....Remember a few weeks ago, I posted a link to The Vinyl District's kickass 70s posts? Well...Mr Vinyl swung by and hinted that they'd be offering up the whole shabang in zip file(s) format as a Christmas present. True to their word....they're up. They are up for a limited time or until the max. limit has been reached. I grabbed them a few days ago (sorry forgot to tell ya!) but just tested the first batch and its still live. Now...get thee ass over there!
Seven Second Up...Radiohead is giving a FREE concert on New Year's Eve and it'll be broadcast both on current TV and available on their web site:
I added RR - KCRW Music News (and KCRW Engineers) last week as neighbors...and glad I did. There's so much good stuff out there and hard to keep up...but a bit easier with them in my 'hood. I've posted one or two tracks from Morning Becomes Eclectic (the show Sharon and the Dap-Kings performed for this morning) and its always a good time. Check out the site and hit my KCRW tag to see what else I've posted....(added: Damn..I know I've posted more than one...but only one shows up both in audio and posts....which means I either meant to post something or I forgot the tag...one of these days I'll figure out which....)
And since I just posted these guys for the first time last week(click their tag to have a listen) then KCRW is playing them a few days later....it can only be destiny that I'll see them soon...huh? (and maybe the email to the mgmnt will help...heh)
But there ya go...
I've begun the daunting task of fixing the tags in iTunes (including album art) the hard way...track by track (yeah, I know there are programs out there that do this but I've yet to find one I understand completely and/or doesn't suck and I also know that shoul iTunes crash I'll probably lose all my hardwork...but c'est la vie, yo)
Anyway...I found Rate Your Music to be a great site for track listings and album art...I went ahead and signed up and actually like the idea (even if the site is a bit slow)...Not only can you catalog your library with ratings, tags and reviews...you can see a map of your artists' location and also make friends....Hence the reason for this post. Anybody else over there?
I'm just getting started and it was a welcome break from the muh-not-knee (sometimes I mangle words that even Spellcheck throws its hands up)of going through iTunes....For now I'm just tagging bands I've listed as favorites...but will be cool to eventually be able to look up all my info on the net...esp. if I want to see if I already own something and don't want to go through the hassle of opening iTunes (my laziness knows no bounds)
blah blah blah...ok...back to the catalogin'....
Edit: Ooops...looks like everything before '75 has 'expired'...but still lots of goodies and a great blog to keep an eye/ear on...
Flipped a
Last I looked...iTunes didn't have it.
All my online searches have returned nada...
You gots it? Hook me up! (and while you're at it...find the Tracy Ullman show clip of everybody singing The Lion Sleeps Tonight"...
Thank you...that is all. ;-P
Not to be confused with the La stripper...heh...
