Yay for the Lucy! aka Lucy Loo aka Lulu aka Ham Hock aka Seepy Girl (as in Sleepy...she's not leaking or anything)

For the few that haven't been bored with her story already...

I had had no real plans of getting a new addition to the family. Abbie was barely 2 years old and I had 2 cats...quite enough, you'd think.  However...a good friend had recently decided to adopt after losing their beloved and asked me to go to the local shelter with them. I should have known better. As soon as I said yes, I knew I probably couldn't leave if somebody tugged at me heart. (not hard to do in a sad sad place like a shelter)  And she did.
 

I remember walking by her corner cage and seeing this sad, frightened...miserable little dog. So underweight you'd think her back end was part whippet...literally starved for affection. She was a bit stand-offish...but more out of fear and miserableness than anything else...plus, I think she probably felt like crap. We went into a little outside court yard and it didn't take long for her to warm up. I knew the big test would be going home to Abbie and the cats but luckily the Shelter has a kitty that is unfazed by any dog so we did a test meet and Lucy passed with flying colors.  She was just too sweet to hate or be hated. ('course Geraldine, my oldest kitty would argue this point).  We came home and I put Abbie out in the back yard then went to get Lucy. Sisters at first sight!  Tails waggin', Lucy rearing on her hind legs to paw at Abbie's face and then they were off....zooming 'round the yard and have been best friends since that day. Cecil the other kitty loves her, too....Geraldine has not change her mind since the first day (pure jealousy I'm ashamed to say).Training this child wasn't easy....had a thing for couch cushions, mattress and Styrofoam but she eventually got with the program. 

Four years on and she's still the sweetest thing (and reminds me of my Joli in that you can look in her eyes and see that she's all yours and vice versa) Mrs. Lucy is happy to see you even if you've only been gone 10 minutes....will give kisses till you wrinkle and will play fetch till your arm falls off. She has a few problems with her back (which I think is due to being so underweight as a pup) and you can't miss a monthly Heartworm pill or you'll be sure to see some other kind of parasite in her um....'do'ings....but I wouldn't trade her for the world.
