Wrapping up the random day...
Forgot I had even taken this. It was in my "To Flickr" folder and saw it today when I was adding the pics from earlier today...
I must have been experimenting with the cam's settings cause its got a bit of wonky noise going on...but I still like this shot of some of downtown from the Boylan Street bridge...
Boy...nothing lets you know you're an amateur photog like going into an inflatable piece of art with all kinds of lights going on inside...translation - most of the pics sucked of Levity III...but it was still a cool experience and worth the $5.
A pretty decent crowd in both 'areas'...here's a section of the group waiting for the performance art...
First up was a visit to Levity III...which I'm not going to bother trying to describe. I'll let the experts do it...
From the Art on the Edge site:
A creation of England's Architects of Air, under the direction of Alan Parkinson, Levity III is a stimulating 10,000 square foot kaleidoscope of liquid light and color. Inspired by Gothic cathedrals and Islamic architecture, the luminarium is made up of labyrinthine tunnels and spacious domes which invite visitors to lose themselves in a complete sensory immersion. Installations by Architects of Air have received rave reviews throughout the world and have collectively drawn millions of awe-inspired visitors to experience these truly unique pieces of art.

Then it was time for a performance from Strange Fruit. It rocked!
Check out the Strange Fruit web site for more info...Definitely check them out if they are in your area. Heck, it was Free!Hailing from Melbourne, Australia, Strange Fruit will captivate the audience as four cast members bend and sway, presenting Swoon! while perched atop flexible poles four meters in the air. Their work is a fusion of theatre, dance and circus. Originally based on the image of a field of wheat swaying in the breeze, the poles' extreme strength and flexibility allow performers to bow to impossible angles, swaying back and forth in a hypnotising dance as the audience looks up in wonder.
First up are the pics...and then a bit of shaky video to give you a better idea...Would have tried for more video and an exterior shot of Levity III...but me batteries died. :(
Enjoy!
- The maternal one spilled the beans about her internetal romance. She's supposedly down a background check...but I personally doubt it. They've only talked on the phone for 3 weeks. 3 weeks! Wouldn't tell me how longt they've been chatting. Also wouldn't tell me how old he is...."he's younger than me"... I asked her to covertly grab a glass he's used so we can grab DNA/fingerprints. She was not amused.
- In other less gaggy news...some things I would have shared earlier in the day if The Man wasn't a web control freak..think I saw this first one on Neatorama...maybe.
An interactive view of the all the memes that swept across the internet and burrowed in our zeitgeist. Built from Wikipedia and Memelabs, open for you to add and maintain.
- This will probably only be of interest to Trianglites...but very cool. A former DJ has started an internet radio station dedicated to local bands from the 80s/90s. And there's also a site full of old music videos from local communtiy TV shows. Sex Police, Dillon Fence, Archers of Loaf, the db's...filmed at places like Cat's Cradle, Local 506 and even The Brewery...More info can be found in this N&O article...and here a little sumpin' from the early 90s....
Just some randoms from today/yesterday. (few more over at Flickr)
The main pic is of Raleigh's new shimmer wall...pretty cool...even if it is in a sucky location. Read more about it here
