Play it loud and play it often. Enjoy your Saturday!
UPDATE (10/6) After a month of slackness...its BACK! And have added a new song used in last week's mp3eme VOX....a little Scooby Doo for your Saturday morn'....sorry Mook!)
Got any Saturday songs? Share'um!
I thought for sure I'd sleep in today...not so.
I thought this because I was pretty worn out from my whirlwind visit home yesterday. Playing with the nieces...even for just a couple of hours wears old Unka Dave out. Add to that a big ole meal at Itchiban for the birthdays and I assumed I'd be in a sleep coma till at least 8am. Oh well....things to do, dogs to walk, blah blah blah...
Heading to the library to return some books. I still have a ton so I'll renew the unread ones online. Not sure if I'll pick anything else up.
I have to cut the grass (after a poop patrol) and do some light (very light) cleaning cause a friend from the beach is coming to stay tomorrow night. Heather has some kind of real estate class to take here in Raleigh so she'll bunk down here for the night. She hasn't seen the house yet so that'll be fun (as will the Housewarming gifts...awwwww, yeah!)
If its not raining/threatening to rain...I'm heading downtown this evening for the freebie Connells show (Old 97s are also playing) Can't wait! I'd love to take pictures but they only allow disposal cameras....which is stupid considering I doubt anybody could make any $$$$ on pictures of any these groups. Oh well...still should be fun to people watch.
Have a good'un!
Love me some Saturday.
My ears feel like they need to pop...and its driving me insane! Could my netti pot have done me wrong? (used it at the beginning of the week) or do I have a deep sinus infection or is there gunk all build up? Or...or...maybe its an actual earworm!?!?! Eww. Me thinks its the 2nd choice as the q-tip came back with a normal amount of gunk. I've taken a decongestant to see if that'll help...but nada so far. It's like this weird pressure feeling and sounds are some how muted but at the same time I'm sensitive to them all. Can make a guy's eyes water, I tell ya! If its not better by Monday...I'll make an appointment to see good ole Dr. Patel. I like my doc. He gives me drugs when I ask for them. (The gods were looking down on me when my first choice for a new doc...Dr. Bong...wasn't taking new patients. Ha!)
Finished up The Story of Edgar Sawtelle yesterday afternoon at work during lunch. I liked it...even if I didn't like it.
Not sure what's next. I have a few reserved books to pick up from the 'brary so I'll decide after that trip. I'll probably peruse a book on the history of Cameron Village after reading this post over at Goodnight, Raleigh. Soooo cool! I've always heard about the Underground/Village Subway but never seen it. I really really want to go down there and it is underneath the library but I don't think access is easy.
There will no doubt be some PS3in' in my immediate future. Got the new Battlefield: Bad Company game last night. Still in the getting used to it phase...but I think I'll like it.
On the movie front, I have Michael Clayton....mainly because I was too lazy to rearrange my queue. Its not must see for me...but I've heard its good. I'd also like to knock out a few more eppys of Mad Men. Only 3 in...but I'm liking it.
Gah....my life is boring, huh? But in two weeks, I'll at least get to see The Connells FREE when their turn comes 'round at Raleigh Downtown Live. Been years since I've seem'um and the price is right. Till then...my weekends will be numbingly boring...which for a hermited slacker is actually A-OK.
This ain't The Connells...but it is an actual Earworm. ;) Full circle...ppl...full circle.
Happy Weekend!
Not much happening with me...there never is.
Started out the week with 100 degree weather and ended it with hazy smoke from the forest fires down East....Thursday was insane! Smoke was pretty damn thick in some spots and there was a Code Red air quality warning till sometime yesterday...
I bought the newest Metal Gear Solid game for PS3. Gonna be a good one. Loved the first and second game in the series...thought the 3rd sucked...but have high hopes for this one. The graphics are amazing. Definitely gonna get my geek on this weekend!
Gotta take some books back to the library today. Always stoked for a trip to the library...but no clue what I'll be reading next. Hoping to find some inspiration from the New Releases shelf.
Thinking of hitting the pool, too. But somehow I gained (more of) a gut over the winter. I think I was so lethargic that my stomach went into hibernation mode. Egads...I'm used to be the skinny kid...and still am...except for the gut. No offense to them...but I think I resemble the bloated belly kids of Ethiopia. I'm hoping swimming and also dancing around with the iPod...ackin' a fool...will help burn off some calories. Sit ups seems easy enough...heh. I've always hated push ups and pull ups (except for the ice cream ones) so I don't see many of those in my future.
The dogs are staring at me....which means they want to walk...NOW. And with the above mentioned gluttonous gut...I think I should meet their demands.
Have a good weekend!
Hello my fellow Voxinians...yes, I continue to be Master of Slack....but I have been popping in to read even if I haven't posted.
I swanee...its HOT! I know I already posted about it...but I'm a whiner. (do what you're good at!)
Major plan for the day is grocery shopping and I need to get on that soon...before the temps get too crazy. If I don't get on this early enough, I suspect certain items might evaporate during the drive home. And I'd be a frightened little mouse if I came home beerless. Will probably look for a new video game....swing by Starbucks and try to stay cool (in the physical sense...for we know Daddy has a handle on the cool factor in the emotional mental other sense) *smack* And in what can only be described as genius...the strip mall put the Starbucks and GameStop stores right besides each other! Hello! I may even venture into this Starbucks for the first time (its my usual stop but the drive-thru is just too easy to pass up)
Not much been going on...as I'm sure you've come to expect. Just been hanging out playing A LOT with the PS3. Finished up the newest Ratchett and Clank last night. Also finished up the newest Harlan Coben mystery. Eh. Never really came together for me. I'll be starting the newest Jack Daniels mystery at some point this weekend. Not sure what's after that...either a Wilbur Smith or a book my mom gave me..The Other Boleyn Chick...or something like that ;)
I like Anne Boleyn (and really loved Anne of the Thousand Days when we watched in high school)...so maybe I'll dig this what looks to be very chick lit-ish.
Also really digging the new Ting Tings. I've had the Great DJ single since iTunes gave it away back in Feb./March...but forgot about it till Charlie 5-0 mentioned them earlier this week (see! I am reading...) It's awesome! Been reading one of their tracks has been used for an iTunes commercial? Good for them, I say. And as I leave you to go walk the dogs before the sun singes their fur...enjoy one of the many great'uns from The Tings Tings newest...
Back when I have something really interesting to say....but probably waaaay sooner than that!
That's me...
I really wish I knew why my body has no problem waking up before "weekday alarm time" on the weekends but does its best to paralyze me during the week at the same time. I can't remember the last time I slept in till say...8am? I have an old man brain in a middle aged (is that what I am? eek!) body...with the mindset of a teenager.
Haven't really been up to much, though. Been looking for something for these dang walls and so far...nada. The family came to visit last weekend to check out the new house (they love it) and to bring prezzies (new pots/pans and towels).
Other than my normal 'just hanging out'...I've been playing ALOT of PS3. Finished up my first game, "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune"...fun stuff! I've moved on to the newest Ratchet and Clank. Man...does it look great in HD! (even if I'm pretty sure I'll seize out before I finish it due to all the vivid colors and explosions)
Not a whole lot of TV watching....other than the usual downloading of EastEnders and Corrie. Thought LOST rocked and oh my to the man in the coffin! I plan on giving Mad Men another shot when it comes out on TV and starts back in July...as well as The Closer and Burn Notice. And my beloved final season of The Shield is back September 2nd.
With such a busy schedule I've 'managed' to fit in quite a bit of reading...Just a few I've torn through in the past weeks:
The Jack Daniels series is pure brain candy...but I dig it. Its a cross b/w Robert Parker/Stuart Woods and James Patterson/Jeffrey Daniels...
The Art of Racing in the Rain got me...even with its Oprah-esque title....because of a dog on the cover and the description of the book. Read it in a day (most while at work...shhh!). Its tells the story of a family from the viewpoint of the dog...on its last day alive.
It's Superman was more enjoyable than I thought it would be....not sure why I'm surprised. I'm a geek for superheroes and it retells the 'beginning of Superman'...but with more of the 'original' feel of the character in the 1930s.
Currently reading the Harlen Coben book....haven't liked any of his as much as his first...but always like to see what he's got out there..
The animals are groovy. Abbie and Lucy are still loving the new house and having all these rabbits to stalk. Cecil is slowly coming around (as long as there are open windows to sit in and treats to be had). Geraldine is a bit pissed that its getting too warm to have the windows open as much so she's constantly pawing at the windows...esp. if I'm sitting on the deck. No....that's not annoying at all. ;)
Not sure what's up for the rest of the weekend....need to return some library books...swing by the grocery store/Starbucks and what I'll be dining on for the weekend. But for now....I'm gonna see what I've been missing out on from all you chatty cathys...
I'll leave you with this week's last.fm charts...a bit late, huh? Think I'll leave you with a bit of Ace. Not only does it feed my love for all things 70s/80s....but it begs the question...did you/do you still use the word "Ace" to describe something cool?

- I've been slack...very slack. Sorry Vox Fam.
- Had a stomach bug all of last weekend...didn't make for the bestest time
- Too many thing to do on a Saturday like:
- Drop dogs off at vet for baths
- Hair cut
- Grocery store
- Swap regular DVR for HD DVR (assuming Time Warner has some...sheeesh!?!)
- PAINT LIVING ROOM
- Purchase flat screen TV
- I wish I could hit FF on my remote and watch from my living room being painted from a camera mounted on the ceiling. The walls are primed....got that out of the way yesterday. I'm afraid the color will suck (Pictures are a probability)
- The possibility of a flat screen as reward is the light at the end of my tunnel.
- Cecil is coming around! He doesn't run away when I approach him...its more a trot. Progress! We've even had a couple of sessions of good pet loving. I think he missed his rub downs. I've gotten him to come downstairs once or twice, too. (by slowing moving down the stairs...sitting down...giving him a rub down and then moving down a couple of stairs and repeating)
- It's coffee time
- It's music time
